Cool 40K Assassin models I'm a tad underwhelmed by the 40K Vindicare and Culexus models. I'd be lying if I said i'm not a little salty about it and I hope out codex does something to fix getting soft-countered by two units that cost less than 200 points altogether. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. I was thinking more like we get a legion trait that negates psychic/deny penalties caused by the enemy. Hopefully this is just user error and you guys can set me straight. Virtually everyone at my FLGS is running one, some are even running other psykers along with them. total. The assassin himself is just far too cheap for what it does- even against non-psykers. Maybe I'm biased, but outside of Horror spam and Daemon Princes the army didn't feel particularly overpowered. Too big and unwieldy-looking and a bit whack for me, but to each their own. With the existence of such a specific counter to that particular thing, there should also be dedicated counters to all other forms of damage dealing, for example assasins that keep you from shooting or from making attacks in close combat. The toughest model to find adequate replacements for seem to be the Culexus … I would say you have a few options: stop playing thousand sons at least till we get a codex, run a shitload of warpflamers and try to make the assassins extra crispy if they get in range. Given the circumstances I'm probably going to bring my Tau for that. If the entire Imperium gets access to a dedicated anti psychic tool I have an idea for our new codex release. With such individualistic models and dynamic poses, Id hate to have duplicate sculpts if there are some adequate replacements made by other companies. Individuals with the Pariah gene are rare enough, but … lean more heavily into armour vehicles like land raiders. Even if your meta did allow lords of war, then imagine a fellblade bubble wrapped by conscripts with guillimans aura and assasins psychic deny. A single assassin is all that's necessary with proper screening units. More recent fluff variously considers the gene to be leftover by some tampering during the Dark Age of Technology, or some kind of evolutionary adaptation against the forces of the the warp. Number 2 sounds the most appealing in a vacuum, but I don't have a whole lot of disposable income to dump into making lemonade right now. I eagerly look forward to your advice, r/thousandsons. Cookies help us deliver our Services. That portion of them seems to be working as intended, as much as I absolutely hate it. We take the assassin stat line, give it an effect that all enemy units within 24' take a -5 modifier to all hit rolls or something, and it only suffers mortal wounds from psychic powers on the roll of a 6. The point I'm trying to get across is that the existence (or at least the incredible abundance) of anti psychic tools is kind of bullshit, since we pay points for these abilities, and the cost and the unit in general is balanced with its psychic abilities in mind. It's pretty frustrating being bullied in the psychic phase while playing Psychic: The Army. Between that and the ban (at my FLGS) on Lords of War I'm starting to think this just isn't a good local meta to be playing Thousand Sons, but I love the army aesthetically, and being a psychic powerhouse army is incredibly fun under regular circumstances. 1k sons have no answer to this. I don't think it will be for the portion of them that affects psykers, though. Talking them out of it won't happen I don't think- least of which from the proper tournament 2 week away. A lot of people are expecting the assassins to be made unique at some point which would stop them from being spammed, but until then I don't really know, I usually solve problems with Magnus and that isn't an option for you. also unless they have a ban on forgeworld models leviathan dreadnoughts are basically lords of war in all but name. Even amongst the upper echelons of the Officio Assassinorum this temple is always viewed with extreme caution. I've got like 12 or so and I have a changeling for sure. It feels like a very up hill battle honestly. Yeah, sounds like your local meta just doesn't suit thousand sons, although I personally don't understand banning Lords of War at all tbh. If no one has to be prepared to fight knights, Magnus, Guilliman, etc. find a different place to play with a less shit meta/refuse to play these people. IMO your game store banning lords of war has created a super poisonous meta. Also I'm not even worried about them being spammed at this point. I'm not too sure what you can do with thousand sons to deal with this, especially without our Primarch.
