I loved this novella! It is however, still a concept album project telling a life story of a man – my story – covering approximately a 40+ year period…from the age of 10 unto his 50’s, through times both turbulent and good. To see what your friends thought of this book, Worth the Wait (Ladies of Harper’s Station, #1.5), I loved revisiting Harper's Station and seeing how Tori finally lets her guard down enough to trust Ben. While I always prefer the longer books, this still makes a nice interlude between novels--don't have to wait as long for the next book, and it provides another fun opportunity to learn more about the ladies of Harper's Station! Vivi, an artsy gal, falls for a friends older brother, David, in their teenage years. I admire Tori for her persistence in holding onto her position, but letting it go when the time was right. Kate Rudd gets 5 stars from me for her, as always, excellent narration. He refuses to tell anyone about this secret and this prevents everyone being able to forgive his absence from their lives. The same father who remarried almost straight away and changed everything in his home by his former wife because new wife didn’t like it. When I'm ready to take But it is more than profit that keeps him coming back. A fantastic novella that has me eagerly anticipating book two in the Ladies of Harper's Station series.
This story was about David and Vivi. On the other, I detested the subplot involving David's dad, his mother and another woman. As a classic take on the brother's best friend story, I hadn't expected the sheer amount of drama that was strangely absorbing, as drawn out as it was - possibly unnecessarily. Either way, I will stand proud behind this volume of work which represents such a large portion of my life, and my only hope is that you find – and feel – something in the message too. Familial treachery and loyalties lie at the heart of the book and there are parallels of it sketched out in most of the relationships highlighted in them.
I learned because of MacArthur Park, and I might never have this recipe again. Tori definitely has her reasons to mistrust men, but it took a special person to help her see that releasing the feelings she has been hiding from will bring her freedom from her past and peace in trusting God. The annoying heroine had no right to blackmail H to forgive his father. I am extremely proud of what’s coming together here – for the music was always “present” in my head and was detailing what I was living through… and I hope to end up with a great pop album that I’m dreaming of. [ he found out that his father was cheating on his cancer ridden mother and his mother asked for him to keep it a secret from his siblings to protect their bond.
