is mafia 2 definitive edition worth it

I've got it on ps4 and was gonna set it up but thought I'd get remastered edition. This just seems like a rushed re-release then a “definitive edition”. The game was played on PC using a download code provided by 2K … I would be insanely enraged if I bought this.

How do they manage to make a 10-year-old game perform so bad on a PS4 Pro.

Español - Latinoamérica (Spanish - Latin America). The team that did this "remaster" presumably isnt the same as the one that's remaking the first game from the ground up right? If you got it for free or plan to buy it at a cheaper price, great!

What I think may have happened is they're actually focused on making a solid remake of Mafia but figured they could squeeze a little extra money out of people with half baked remssters of 2 and 3 that they can bundle as the "definitive mafia trilogy" or whatever. It's borderline broken. Just take a look at some comparissons on YouTube and you'll see that this Remaster doesn't change THIS much imho, when I started it I didn't even see a difference to the original game. With headphones on, all of the dialogue comes out of the left ear and the cutscenes are extremely loud while gameplay is super quiet.

Very unhappy and I just hope they fucking patch this soon.

I have tried now first city mission in both versions and I almost don't see differences. Honestly it really is disappointing. It was done by the same studio that fucked up the Shenmue remasters, This more on 2k than it is on Take2, take2 owns rockstar as well, and their games are well polished. (tough to be fair, Joes Adventures has few fun, car related missions, but one at metros station can put cement shoes on and take long walk off the short pier.)

What bothers me the most is the frame rate that is inconsitent, it spoils the fun of driving or walking around.

According to a Reddit user, the cutscenes are a bit better but there are issues with Mafia 2 Definitive Edition. They didn’t even add cloth physics... trench coats are still glued to the back of your legs.... like 2010.... Yeah they free upgraded it for all pc owners of the base game but its literally a downgrade without the cloth physics and some of the nvidia stuff. Plus side for us original game owners was to get the DLC adventures for free, even if they're not too great. The performance problems make it so much worse than it was in it's original state.

EDIT: A friend of mine also told me that the new Mafia 3 update makes the game run like crap and all the graphics look blurry now. Biggest difference I notices was at (Spoilers in case you haven't played Mafia 1 and 2 already) When you go to kill Angelo, where the new model looks more like" happy to be alive " version from first game, rather than classic Mafia 2's more older, maybe even guilt ridden look . One of my favorite all time games of last gen. It's Take-Two. Luckily I got to try it for free because of the glitch in the store. The audio problems are really noticeable too.

You can go for original mafia 2 keys some sites still sells them in that way you can enjoy both versions in cheap price.
