So my question to you, is a tryhard a good or a bad thing for you? We can meet it in a resourceful and meaningful way where we have someone else’s interests at heart or we can meet it in an unresourceful way that carries no meaning for anyone, except ourselves.

So if people prioritizing fun over winning in your multiplayer game actually impacts your day then that makes you a "try-hard" who cares too much about something as silly as a video game and that "try-hard" usually ruins the enjoyment for everyone else. I've also heard the term "sweaty" used in an identical way.

Tryhard as a actual insult is used to reference someone who places the value of being "Good" at a game or activity over the enjoyment of actually doing said activity.
