Stroll through Sandycove and stop at the James Joyce Tower and Museum where Joyce once stayed as a guest. Just outside Dublin the small fishing port of Howth is a breath of fresh air, accessable by Train and Bus, and if cliff walks are your thing no better place.

Everything I read online about the Howth cliff walk mentioned that it starts at the Howth train station. Take a turn at the Summit and maybe grab a drink or two in the Summit Inn and carry on to walk a couple of kms back to Howth station.
From the city centre, take the Dart (train) to Howth from the city centre, and start off from the east pier following the cliff path along the east side of Howth head.

If you can hold your nerve through these eerie woods, the waymarked path passes all sorts of curiosities, including a Bronze Age wedge tomb, an icehouse and the remnants of the fine gardens that were once laid out here.
