If you wanted to put in a sentence saying something like "The Kurmis were called depressed in 1894 and barred from police service, but they wrote a bunch of complaints to the governor and in 1896 he rescinded it" you wouldn't be hearing objections from me, because that's what the source actually says. All these sources mention Kurmis claiming Kshatriya claim or references to Kshatriya lineage of Kurmis. The successors of Luv came to be known as lavyas and they settled in the region of Kashmir but later moved towards different parts of India. Is it not like cutting the same branch you are sitting on. Are Kurmis Kshatriya? Add Shivaji as Great Kurmi Ruler in the History section.
