Inland sushi. Need our Asian fix, with no other options than sushi in Vail Village, we took a chance on this place. The sushi was not good.
Dessert was a whole experience in itself. Our waitress was very kind and informative so that was a plus. Because of this they lost me as a customer and the money I had planned on spending on my meal. Loved the shoshito peppers. We made a reservation via Open Table about a day in advance (July 4th week is really busy in Vail). Period. Very small. Probably hard to get a table on busy nights. Kind service and and fun atmosphere. We were happily surprised at the selection and quality of the food. Honestly I think this is some of the best sushi in the valley even matched up against Matsuhisa! Delicious!! Hotels near Colorado Snowsports Museum and Hall of Fame, American Restaurants for Special Occasions in Vail, Seafood Restaurants for Special Occasions in Vail, Restaurants for Special Occasions in Vail. The waitress was so nice she comp'ed is a drink. The cozy space with a smattering of tables and small sushi bar is the kind of room that has you looking out of the corner of your eye: Did that wall just change color? Great sushi! The rolls are unique and amazing! I liked the sushi but nothing was particularly exciting about the restaurant or dining experience. Pretty easy, excellent review here.
And it was busy...typically a good sign but I'm chocking it up to people not understanding how wrong it is to eat sushi inland.
It's so wrong.....but it came recommended from someone who claimed to be a "sushi snob".
The service was strong and seemed collaborative.
Yelp users haven’t asked any questions yet about. Have eaten there multiple times and it's always on point. They did not tell me an item was not available so to replace it I had to wait and hot got cold and my ice cream melted. And for dessert, be sure to get the blood orange and chocolate espresso Mochi! Had sushi couple of nights ago, so opt for teriyaki chicken skewers and a side of rice. Yes pleaseThank you Lauren and Tiffany... we will be back.Side note: when you order a piece of sushi and it's so good you double down... rinse and repeat. She returns to the line and tells me that if I want order takeout that I have to agree to a mandatory 15% gratuity "for the kitchen." The staff is very attentive and friendly and even gave us free drinks while we were waiting for a table on a busy night. The people who make the food have very high skill! Also, any non-sushi items were brought out one at a time while all of our sushi rolls were brought out on one plate...there were 5 of us. Our server we excellent! The restaurant is cozy (i.e. I don't regret eating there but I won't likely ever go back.
We were seated less than 20 min and at a table. Our party of 6 was greeted warmly upon arriving and seated promptly. We ordered 3 rolls Randy Roll (no taste), Ef’ed up roll (least bad), and yen yen (poor).
I was at Yama celebrating a friend's birthday. Both were great for sharing!
