Set in 45 acres of landscaped park, the house as we see it today is the 18th-century creation of Sir Francis Dashwood, the 2nd baronet, founder of the Dilettanti Society and the Hell-Fire Club. Wonderfully well preserved Georgian country house, which really evoked the mid 18C. Very much enjoyed the tour and we loved the grounds. We're sorry but West Wycombe House and Park are currently closed. The 18th century Italianate villa is very interesting , only part was open when we went, but lovely to be in the building where Downton Abbey was filmed. The Dashwood family have owned this 45acre estate for over 300 years, they certainly know how to live.It is part of the National Trust.
