The existing shop was too small to house the repair shop and the construction part of the business and therefore had to be razed for a new building. In 1982 Monteverdi car production was shut down. The Monteverdi firm then became specialist in GT cars and then in later years, jeeps and also vehicles for the Swiss Army. It was designer,constructor,driver,even jet pilot! The factory was converted into a museum, the Monteverdi Car Collection, which opened in 1985.
