I guess the Lugano area would offer better eating and museum options. On less lazy days there are some stunning walks to be found. I've decided that there are just too many great areas of Switzerland to do it all in two weeks, that's for sure! But perhaps you've done this and got stuck! I don't know if you remember a scene of 007 goldeneye (I think it was that one, not 100% sure tough) where James Bond jumped from a dam, that scene was shot exactly at the beginning of Val Verzasca, if you don't have the fear of the altitude and want a strong experience it should still be possible to jump from it. It's also flatter. As for what Lugano has to offer I think the previous user has given you a good overview.

"14 days in advance" includes days 13 and 15. As well as going up to Madonna del Sasso -> Cardada -> Cimetta and hiking in the Verzasca and Maggia valleys (by bus so that you can go to one place - say Sognogno, then walk back along the valley and return from another stop), and some fabulous hiking in the Centovalli, there is also the Isole di Brissago and of course Ascona.

A disappointment, however, was Monte Serpiano - took the cable car up but walking down again the views were obscured by trees most of the way! Hotel Du Lac vs. H4 Arcadia Locarno...Cast your vote! I really don't think you would be disappointed with either location as there is also lovely walking in the Locarno area. shuttle bus to Baveno from Milan's Milpensa airport? Monte Generoso is south of Lugano - take the Como train, then the mountain railway to the top for stunning views all round and then walk down to the halfway station.
