The hike to Lago di Sorapiss is a well trodden path culminating at a crystal blue, glacially fed small alpine lake, where the towering peak of Punta I come from Poland, but I've been living, travelling and working around the globe since I turned 18. About an hour later, people started to swarm in and by 11 it was a mad house! Difference. But, a friend said she did it this summer and it was very busy so it took 6 hours so keep that in mind! The back way, the way we returned, over the mountain, is more strenuous and may be a bit much. We started the hike a bit after 7 A.M. Definitely get an early start, this trail gets busy! My shoes got a bit wet and it took me a minute for to find holds to get up on it, but so worth it.

The Rifugio is a very popular choice among hikers to stay overnight and is usually fully booked during school holidays and on weekend. The water, that’s also strictly out of bounds for those of you wanting to take a refreshing dip (I am talking to you The Lago di Sorapis hike in the Italian Dolomites is an absolutely beautiful one.
I knew the place was beautiful from the pictures but to walk out onto our balcony on a sunny day and see this from our deck. You’ll know if you’re in the right place because you will see cars and this sign (Trail 215).
